In 1895 Walter & Albert Gilbey started to distill gin, having previously been established as wine importers and latterly proprietors of two whisky distilleries in Scotland.

This gin is still made today but it perhaps not so well known as it was in first three-quarters of the twentieth-century.

As an old tag-line once said:  Cool Drinks Begin with Gilbey's Gin!
