Gooderham & Worts rose to prominence during the Prohibition era, exploiting the lack of competition in the US where alchohol production was banned, they regularly traded with bootleggers and smugglers in the US north-east. They admitted to this in 1928 and were fined the princely sum of $439,744. Never-the-less, they carried on, merging eventually with Hiram Walker.
The youngest whiskey in this blend matured for 15 years was distilled in 1955.
