Once upon a time Campari Bitter had many competitors, many of which were packaged in a very similar style. With a broad blue band across the top of the main front label emblazoned with the brand in block letters above calligraphic text below, Roberto Moroni most closely replicated the classic Campari Bitter label. A supplier to the Imperial House of Savoy, he even manufactured his product in Sesto San Giovanni, the suburb of Milan where Campari was based. Campari Bitter was as ubiquitous with drinkers in the 1930s and 1940s, from when this bottle dates (The coat of arms of the House of Savoy on the tax stamp helps us to place this bottle to the 1933-44 period), as they are today. This promises to be a cracking drop, bottled at a punchy 27%, at a fraction of the price of a Campari Bitter bottle of the same period. Prego!
