Founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, Yamazaki is Japan's first bona fide whisky distillery. Sitting in between Osaka and Kyoto - served by the converging rivers of Katsura, Uji, and Kizu - the stills are varied in shape, size, lyne arm position and some are direct-fired while others are steam-heated. All of which allows for a creation of many different styles of spirit destined for blending as well as bottling as single malt.
Discover the Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak Kogei Collection 2024 (70cl)—a sophisticated expression of Japanese whisky artistry. Crafted with peated malt and matured in Spanish oak casks, this whisky delivers a harmonious blend of smoky character, dried fruits, and warming spices.
The 2024 Kogei Collection highlights Suntory’s collaboration with Kyoto’s Chiso Kimono House, using intricate Kyo-Yuzen dyeing techniques to create a unique design that evokes Yamazaki’s serene landscape of merging rivers. The bottle and packaging reflect this heritage, making it a collectible piece for whisky enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
On the palate, it features a luxurious interplay of Oloroso sherry notes with raspberries, prunes, and toffee, balanced by subtle oak spices and a gentle, lingering smokiness. Ideal for savoring neat, it is a testament to Suntory’s dedication to craftsmanship and innovation.
