Bottled for the German market in the 1970s. Distilled by Five Stripe Distilling Co. of Owensoro, Kentucky and named after the murder ballard / folk song Tom Dooley, which is about the Confederate soldier Tom Dula (pronounced as Dooley) who murdered a woman named Laura Foster in 1866.
